The Latest News from Valley FilmsMay 20124/5/12. An apology from the webmaster. Some of you may have experienced a problem trying to view some of our video clips on our Short Films and Community Films pages. Sorry, my fault. I recently updated our video player so that people using Apple Mac computers, iPhones, iPads and the like could watch our masterpieces. I correctly and appropriately updated all the links on our Theatre page and our News archive page, but forgot to update the links on the individual film pages. Hopefully I have now corrected that slight oversight - and they should all be working ok. If however you do come across a video that still doesn't seem to work, please let me know using the Contact Us page. (But try closing the video window, then refreshing the film page first - press the F5 key - before again trying the video. Your browser may still have the old version of the film page cached and the refresh will fix that problem.) 3/5/12. Oh yes, just looking back over the pictures of our recent shoot, what a terribly cold day it was. It was great nevertheless, just getting back to getting cameras and equipment ready for the first shoot of the year. The venue was brilliant and just right for the cameo about to be shot. Another lesson to be learnt when filming out on a cold day, that is apart from having a supply of gloves and scarves in the car at the ready: have a good old fashioned flask of hot tea available! If nothing else we can keep our actors warm! Filming went well, the director was happy and a good morning was had by the crew. And the final, best part? ... off to the pub for a well deserved drink and hot meal! Wendy April 201217/4/12. Most of the team had a good Sunday morning filming the latest cameo for our second local history film of Boxley. Thanks go out to the actors and Buttercups Goat Sanctuary who helped make it all possible. Take a look at a few pictures taken on the day by Wendy and keep an eye out on this site for more details of the film.
1/4/12. For all you photographers out there, Jeff's tip of the month looks at Window's new RAW image support in Explorer and Photo Gallery. Take a look at the bottom of this page. ------------------------------------------------------------------ March 20125/3/12. We have this month added a page for our latest film - Dilemma - teasing you as to the topic of the piece and showing some photos taken on the day of the shoot. 5/3/12. This month, Jeff shows you how to preview photos in Windows Explorer. Take a look at the bottom of the page for the tip of the month. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit our News Archive for interesting snippets from the past. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Tip of the monthApril 2012 - Windows gets RAW image support in Explorer and Photo GalleryIf you shoot images in RAW format this tip is for you. RAW images have been compared to negatives in film photography, in that they aren't usable as photos but contain the information needed to make a photo. Although the files are much larger, RAW files provide better image quality and give you more control over manipulating the image. You can read more about RAW here: http://www.win7news.net/IANFD3/110728-Raw-Files Previously, RAW files weren't viewable in Explorer and Windows Photo Gallery, but Microsoft has now released a codec pack for Windows 7 that adds support for RAW images. This will be welcome news to many photographers. Find out more here including the download of the Free CODEC pack: http://www.win7news.net/IANFD3/110728-RAW-Image-Support With the possible release of Windows 8 later this year I shall now call a halt to Win 7 tips. Hope you have found these of use. Bye for now Jeff ------------------------------------------------------------------ This page only shows the latest tip of the month. We are very keen to visit local amateur productions to see actors in play (do you have a production team we can come and visit?); and although you can see from our films we already work with a number of very talented actors/actresses, we are always happy to talk to and work with new talent. If you are interested in acting in one of our future productions, you have an idea for a script that you think is a world beater, or if you would just like further information about Valley Films, please Contact Us.
